One of the hardest things about being a business owner lies in knowing and understanding all of the new methods of promotion that are coming down the pipe. For example, whilst listing a business in the Yellow Pages may still be somewhat effective, the real key of business promotion is in knowing where abbots your potential clients eyes are looking. At the end of the day, everyone is moving to the internet to find what it is that they are after, and it is in this very sense that the art of SEO is starting to grow into a very large part of business promotion.

Having said all of that, I am sure that you are wondering why most business are shifting their promotional efforts online? Simple answer is that there are too many reasons that I could state as to why online poses a massive opportunity, however, I am going to talk today about a few of the reasons why SEO is critical to your online promotion.

The Internet Is Highly Accessible

If we look at the common person, they will have a computer at home, one at work, plus mobile internet access on their cell phone. In all essence, this is the equivalent of having all of the phone books on earth, plus encyclopaedias, plus everything else you could imagine in your back pocket. What this means is that it is accessible, as as such, if someone is looking for your business, regardless of where they are, they should be able to access it online.

Google Local Is The Future

Part of what Google consistently strives to achieve is to deliver highly targeted, high quality and relevant results to their users. It is in this sense that Google Local works a charm, and is most definitely one of the most valuable tools that you can use in your online marketing efforts. For example, the internet used to be primarily global, meaning that by searching for something would have turned up global results. Google has changed this so that search queries can also be relevant to your local area based on your IP address. Imagine what this could do for your business?

It is as simple as this. The internet is evolving, and as it is, it is going local. Delivering high quality relevant results to those who seek it. As you could imagine, this is an extremely powerful method of online promotion, and definitely a great way of getting the word out there about your offline (or online) business.

The Internet Is Cost Effective

Other prehistoric methods of marketing are very expensive, yet highly untargeted. If you look at the standard advertisement in the newspaper, who knows who will see that listing, and in all essence, you are paying to promote to a large base of people who may not even be qualified. Online promotion is the equivalent of putting the phone in their hand. All this is extremely cost effective as well. And lets not forget that by dominating in the search engines, you can also identify yourself as the expert in your niche, which is extremely powerful when it comes to online promotion.

So, let me ask you this? If you have an offline business, are you using the power of the internet to market your business? If not, then remind yourself of the power of marketing your business where your customers are now searching. Of course, it is not as simple as it sounds, with various variations and methods out there to follow (eg, read The SEO Method Review), however, there is simply no denying that the power of online promotion is hands down one of the most effective business tools currently available.
