When you step into the world of online business one of the most difficult ideas to grasp is monetizing your traffic meaning no longer is the quest of your online endeavor to get the traffic, but to make money from the traffic coming to your website. Of course if you have not yet mastered internet marketing and are not getting any traffic at all this article will probably be ahead of where you are at. Either way you should remember some of the key components and basic ideals of monetizing traffic. I have by experience made plenty of errors and learned quite a bit from trial after trial attempting to find what type of online business is best. I have found that no one type will do, but many and spreading them along many different niches is imperative when trying to make money online.

The problem many run into when trying to monetize traffic is it will directly contradict your goals as an internet marketer. Some examples include as an internet marketer having more pages and content is a good thing, but as someone trying to monetize their traffic having a very large site makes it easy for a visitor to become distracted and become lost in your website never actually signing up or buying anything. Yes having 20,000 pages all linking back to the index with keywords between the anchor tags are a plus when marketing, but will leave you with little profit. Another example of how internet marketing and monetizing traffic is keyword density and backlinks towards the home page with keywords rather than home which is what the general public is use to. This is something I personally found extremely useful when trying to increase link count for a particular keyword, but when I ran checks to find what links visitors where clicking on I found quite a few clicking the links which were strictly for SEO purpose and probably getting frustrated not understanding that I had put the links in not for them, but rather for Google’s bot.

So if you are trying to get your visitors to sign up there are a couple things you should be doing. First remember simplicity is always best. You want everything from navigation to your template simple enough a monkey could find their way through your website. In the online business world this is considered creating your presence so the dumbest of your traffic will be able to purchase or use your presence. If you are a college grad your web presence is not the place to show off your vocabulary since when people get frustrated they will more than likely leave. Use simple small words so everyone knows exactly what you are saying. Another aspect to keep in mind is the visibility of your items, programs, or anything else that is making you money. If for example you run a blog on dog grooming and the only place you sale the leashes is a sub page don’t expect a high sale rate since most visitors check out the first page and bounce. You should have whatever you are making money with on the first page.
